Gunn for Hire

· Quentin Gunn – Quentin Gunn is a former New York Police robbery homicide detective and part-time member of the ESU (Emergency Services Unit). Orphaned as a young boy when his parents were brutally caught in a deadly crossfire between rival crime syndicates, Quentin is raised and taught by an honest and incorruptible veteran police officer. He went on to become one of the best detectives in the NYPD’s robbery homicide division and later transferred to the department’s Organized Crime Unit. But a brutal shooting between his unit and the Japanese Yakuza which resulted in Gunn gunning down the syndicate’s generals, Gunn was forced out of the force to avoid getting a life sentence in prison. He later opened a gun shop in Midtown Manhattan and secretly started his own private investigations/bodyguard/bounty hunting service. He later was joined by ex-Hong Kong inspector Nick Aramaki [link] and street bum and former SAS black ops operative George Craig. Gunn is a hard-boiled investigator, sometimes going above the law to solve crimes and bring criminals to justice. He has a non-nonsense, don’t-always-go-by-the-book approach in investigating and detective work. Having only nothing other than his detective skills and weapons expertise, Gunn cannot find an honest job, which leads to open his own business. He is a constant professional, but is also reckless and has a hard-edged attitude, leading to arguments with his fellow co-workers. Gunn will do whatever it takes to solve his cases and get the needed cash to cover his vast expenses. He never had a knack to kick out his chain smoking habit, and will not plan to in the foreseeable future. His favorite hobbies are playing drums and running his gun shop. His favorite food is canned tuna. Gunn is a gifted and skilled veteran detective and expertise in ballistics, illegal weapons and narcotics shipping, human trafficking, organized crime and domestic terrorism. Despite his history of smoking, Gunn is otherwise maintaining his physique by constant exercise and weight training. Gunn is an expert in police-issue hand-to-hand combat. He is a highly skilled pistol and rifle marksman and firearms combat expert. He is an expert in Class III automatic weapons and paramilitary small arms. His preferred handguns are two .357 magnum Desert Eagles and occasionally uses an M16A4 assault rifle modified to fire full automatic and fitted with an ACOG scope and optional silencer; this rifle is used for sniper purposes. He drives a late-90’s Chevrolet Caprice sedan.

· Nick Aramaki – Nick Aramaki is a Japanese-born former Hong Kong Police detective who reluctantly became Quentin Gunn’s partner in his private investigations business and gun shop. When he’s not repairing on cleaning guns for customers, he serves as Gunn’s assistant and part-time bounty hunter. Nick was investigating a series of murders in New York, which has connections to the Chinese Triad. The clues and trails led to his first encounter with disgraced ex-NYPD detective Gunn and the events that forced him to quit the Hong Kong Police and moved in to Gunn’s newly found private eye business along with a former street bum and part-time nanny who was formerly a SAS operative. Nick has a no-nonsense, instinct-based approach to bringing down criminals, using some uneasy tactics to get the job done, even if it means lethal force. He is the conscience to Gunn’s reckless cowboy attitude, occasionally putting some sense into Gunn’s thick head and suggestions other ways to dissolve a situation. Nick is a dedicated enforcer, but sometimes has to go above the law to bring more heinous criminals to justice. Nick occasionally fashions himself as a free spirit, but is bound by a strict code of honor and will never abandoned his comrades in times of crises. His favorite hobbies are playing the saxophone at the local jazz club and reading detective novels. His favorite food is Shrimp Nigiri, a type of Japanese sushi. Nick is a veteran detective from his days from the Hong Kong Police. Highly trained and experience in investigative and deduction skills. He is also experienced in undercover work and surveillance. He is a skilled gunsmith and forensics expert. Nick is an Olympic-style track and field athlete and an avid weight trainer. Nick is trained in handgun combat techniques and has his own style of gun fighting, which his former colleagues described as “Gun Fu”. He is highly skilled in all types of firearms and military and paramilitary small arms. His preferred handguns are dual Beretta 92F pistols. He is also highly trained in SWAT tactics from his days working part-time with the HKPD’s Special Duties Unit, which is an equivalent to SWAT. He is an expert in police-issue close-quarters and melee combat.

· George Craig – George Craig was a highly decorated British Special Air Service black ops operative. But cutbacks in the military left him with no benefits and welfare. Penniless, Craig moved to New York City hoping to look for a decent job, but ended up as part of the city’s homeless. For the next nine years, Craig used his military training to survive the streets of Manhattan while living on food stamps for expenses. It was an unexpected encounter with former NYPD detective turned private eye Quentin Gunn in his first case that things turn around. Now Craig lives with Gunn and his partner Nick Aramaki in their homegrown gun shop business, which is also their private detective/bodyguard agency. Craig is a hard-edged, street-smart survivor who used to follow that time-honored rule “survival of the fittest”. Now using his contacts and his instincts, Craig helps Gunn and Aramaki in their most difficult cases, all the while putting food on the table in the process. His favorite hobbies are practice shooting and cleaning guns. His favorite food is bean soup. Craig was a highly trained SAS Black Ops agent with experience in weapons, infiltration, survival, interrogation, and covert warfare. He is extensively trained in hacking electronics and vehicles. He is also an expert in setting up various types of booby traps and diversion devices. He is a trained defensive driver and a qualified helicopter pilot. He is an expert in covert operations-style hand-to-hand combat and handling with non-bladed melee weapons like batons and nightsticks. He is also a trained field combat.
